Deep within the facility’s automated core worked Marcus. Marcus had never attended an elite university; he was a vocational technician who had gone to a local high school and a junior college. Marcus’s hands-on domain was the physical battery-assembly and thermal-routing matrix—a highly complex, volatile ecosystem. Marcus couldn’t write an essay on corporate philosophy, but he possessed an extraordinary, outlier aptitude for understanding how high-end machinery stressed under pressure.

The paradigm shifted entirely when the corporation deployed Aegis, an omniscient, hyper-advanced AI engine designed to run the entire global supply and tactical targeting operation.
